Full Version: Universal Health Care
Ness
Well, I'm thinking about going into the medical field and knowing that the U.S. health care system sucks, it makes me consider such things like insurance and the things that I probably would have to force to do if I ever became a physician. I just want to help, and sick/poor/needy people are there for many people to help. The more I help people, the more I feel comfortable just trying to help ANYONE.

I watched Michael Moore's "Sicko" movie and he did bring up a lot of points. Universal health care (aka "socialized medicine") is the way to go since our system now sucks. Sure he didn't cover the down sides of socialized medicine, but our health care system is corrupt and inefficient. It disgusts me that the drug and even the medical industry are paying bureucrats to pass laws for their own monitary benefits. What assholes.

Either way, what do you think about universal health care? If you don't think it's the best way, what is, then?

i think that it should be available but not forced, if you get what i mean. like the option should be there for everyone but they shouldnt be forced to accept the plan so to speak. other than that i think it sounds saavy. we talked about this a lot in collegio because of the pharmacutical (sp?) companies and such and apparently it's abig deal because the companies that make medicine wont be so inclined to come up with these nifty new medicines and such, but...it's not really a problem in other countries so i think they would adapt eventually.

Money is only a driving force behind innovation because we place so much importance on it. Shift the focus to personal achievement and you've got yourself a whole new ball game.

Anyways on topic: Medicine should be viewed as a utility of sorts. Its necessary for better quality of life just like electricity and indoor plumbing. And, like any other utility, it should be nationalized and run by the state. Private firms and pharmaceutical companies running the med-biz will only lead to catastrophic failure.

Amen~!

I will hate working against big companies if I am a physician. Hopefully things will change... HOPEFULLY by the time I become one.
