noob-in-learning.. pls be kind

I've been reading some tutorials off the net recently, and finally decided to try my hand at sig making.
Any comments and feedback will go towards helping me improve, they're greatly appreciated. Thanks.

here are my results:

my first ever attempt at a sig a few weeks back. After that I decided to get serious about learning how to do a proper one

N00b?? Mo'...mind if I call ya Mo'? Anyway, you've got very nice results here! I'm impressed, tbh.

Sig 1.

You have amazing potential if this is your first sig. I can't tell you how bad mine was. O_O That aside, I think the sig is a bit flat ( no depth) and the text place/font/color is off. It's also a bit washed out, and the border color is strange.


Sig 2.
This one is very nice. D= I see a bit of depth there as well as some flow. I think the font is a little big, and parts of the render are over-sharpened and look weird on the bottom right side. Also, I'm not sure about your light source.

Sig 3.

This one's flat, and really has no theme to speak of, but the brushes are interesting and you're starting to learn to blend rather well ( I note the right shoulder). Text is weird though and I don't know if I would have picked that render.

Sig 4.

That chibi scares the hell out of me. I refuse to CnC. >__>

Anyway, for your first batch of sigs, these are very nice! That Nnoi one is competition worthy already, imo.

2nd: Yea you're right about the font size hehe. I'm not very sure what you mean by flow and depth though, mind explaining? I actually coloured in from the manga because I couldn't find a render of his release to fulfill the request

I didn't have much choice with the render for the 3rd sig 'cos it was a request on BE What type of font would you suggest for that one?

PS. Lol! Is that chibi that scary?

basically craver summed up what i was gonna say but in cravers way of saying it so ill save you the trouble of reading it again. i would like to emphasize that your first sig is very impressive to be a first, much better than my first. i can see that you'll be a quick learner. i gotta stress the text as well. it can make or break your sig. and youll often see people say 'theres a font/text for each sig'. think of it as like a fingerprint. and play around with it, but don't let it detract from your focal point. it's an accent. overall great job

Took some feedback on flow and lighting from the classroom, and this is my attempt. Not sure if i got it right though... C&C appreciated

I'd hardly say you're a noob...Your sigs are great. Like I said before, I'm terrible at CnC, so I can't really say what you need or don't need to improve on. =/

uhm wow really. no way you're a noob imo. that sig actually has depth and while it isnt blended that well id say you're progressing at an alarming rate. great job.

Thanks for all the kind comments. Was thinking of asking about the blending part, but figured I should ask in the class =)
