I used GIMP for a long while...Know the program better than I do Photoshop. I've recently made the jump from GIMP to CS3...and I can see that Photoshop does indeed have advantages.

I tried using GIMP but it is not very user friendly. Could not find a decent starting tutorial so I deleted it and got PS C3 which is more user friendly, more options, and easier to handle in my opinion.

I use both GIMP and CS2 but I'm using CS2 more often now because of the more options it has. But GIMP was easy to learn and very simple, so I still kinda like it.

Photoshop. I've never used GIMP regularly, really.
Though, GIMP was rather easy for me to make something a bit flashy as a WIP, I don't think it could've gotten me as far as Photoshop would have. At the time, I was pretty used to using photoshop, anyway.

I would take Photoshop over GIMP anyday,I use CS3 and i've tried GIMP and just...no....you get what you pay for imo amon: oh wait...you dont pay for it...well the rule still applies...it's ok if you're just starting out on GFX but if you want to advance,i suggest getting Photoshop.
